Interior Design of HomeAid Houston's 2009 Project Playhouse

In order to create the interior design of the Home aid Playhouse a lot of time was spent meeting with the other key volunteers. We brainstormed many different approaches to what style of interior would be most appreciated by a young individual or parent. Finally, we decided on a Farm house theme that incorporated as many “green building” techniques as possible. After creating a sample board of all of the desired Playhouse donations needed many materials were sent to the GHBA office. Next, we selected the Sherwin Williams exterior color of Great Green to show off the detail work of the exterior. A gray metal roof was installed and the front balister details and woodwork stood out in a white color that tended to remind someone of a farmhouse. Hence, our Farmhouse theme was utilized. We chose a dark mahogany front door with substantial iron hardware. Upon entering the playhouse the main back wall has a Benedettini mahogany long cabinet that can be utilized for toy storage. We selected the stain to complement the front door. The denim cushions were custom made to be placed on top of the cabinet. The cow print fabric TV frame ties in again the Farmhouse theme that surrounds the large flat screen as a central focal point for our Playhouse. The ruffle trimmed drapes were created using a plaid fabric with a combination of green and other complementary colors that repeats our farm theme. Children are also able to enjoy the train set as well as a John Deere riding tractor. We hope everyone will take a moment to enjoy the Home aid Playhouse that is located at the Astros Minute Maid Park until August 23, 2009.
