The company’s design conceptualization included all the fabrics to be used for the baby’s bedding, changing pad and window coverings. It also included some inspirational pieces and some main furniture selections that were suggested. We decided to purchase a dark mahogany crib as a focal point that would eventually turn into a bed for the new arrival. The oversized denim glider and ottoman were one of the practical features of the nursery design. To complement the overall nautical design three custom painted portholes were positioned over the crib. Unique color and design for the portholes’ paintings were chosen to coordinate with the custom made baby bedding. The main walls were painted a neutral khaki color so the design elements would be noticed in the nursery including the compass that was custom painted by a muralist on the ceiling. A hanging canvas was custom painted to include some roaring oars, a tranquil ocean scene, and a life preserver personalized with the baby’s name.
